James Gunn confirms a Peacemaker fan theory about Vigilante's mast. During the development of 2021's The Suicide Squad, it was quickly revealed by Gunn that he would be working on a spinoff series revolving around one of the film's major characters, that being Christopher Smith, also known as Peacemaker, portrayed by John Cena. The series eventually premiered on HBO Max on January 13, 2022, and featured a familiar amount of characters also from the film.
Peacemaker follows the titular character after the events of the 2021 blockbuster as he is forced into another Task Force-X-like team, codenamed Project Butterfly, as they hunt down and kill parasitic aliens. Joining Cena within the main cast are Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, and Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith. Vigilante in particular has become a fan-favorite amongst audiences as the aloof and colorful sidekick to Peacemaker, however, who also possesses violent tendencies.

In a recent post on Twitter from Gunn, the director confirmed the theory that fans had cooked up of Vigilante's mask being a prescription lens that allowed him to see without his glasses, with the character having to put his glasses on every time the mask comes off. Within the tweet, he directly quote retweeted a fan who continued to theorize about the most recent episode and simply stated that it was in fact a prescription. In reply, many fans continued to ask questions about the newest episode and the episodes to come. View the tweet below:
