It has been reported for weeks that the iPhone 14 series is expected to get a price hike due to the rising cost of raw materials. The world has been suffering from a semiconductor shortage since the start of the pandemic and that has led to more demand than supply. Reports from famous Apple analysts such as Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo have all hinted at a steep $100 price increase for the Pro variants of the iPhone 14. However, that may not be the case.
According to a recent report by yeux1122 posted on the Korean site Naver, the iPhone 14 price could go in a "completely different direction than expected.” If this report is true, then it puts a question mark on previous reports which have also tipped other features in the iPhone 14 such as the new notch design and the expected always-on display.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously confirmed the leaked price of the iPhone 14. According to them, the iPhone 14 Pro is expected to be priced at $1,099, a $100 increase on the price of the iPhone 13 Pro. Similarly, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is expected to be priced at $1,199.
However, yeux1122's could also be about only the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max/Plus. Previous reports have stated that the standard models in the iPhone 14 series are not in line for a price hike. Therefore, the standard iPhone 14 could be priced at $799, similar to the iPhone 13, with the iPhone 14 Max/Plus being priced $100 more at $899.
