Filmmaker Roland Emmerich, known for his work on Independence Day, has partnered with industry veterans to launch Space Nation, an ambitious project encompassing an online space opera game, a television series, and animated shorts. Deadline was first to report.

Space Nation's centerpiece is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) where players become ship captains on a journey through the Telikos Cluster. Exploring the cluster's mysteries immerses players in a grand space opera. The game universe features alien species and three distinct factions with unique ideologies and goals.
Jerome Wu, CEO and co-creator of Space Nation, believes the project can redefine the boundaries of entertainment. Space Nation has secured substantial backing, with a $50 million investment from entities such as Chain Hill Capital, Foresight Ventures, Lighthouse Capital, SevenX Ventures, HashKey Capital, Arcane Group, Initiate Capital, JDAC Capital, Assembly Partners, and Cristian Manea. The company is preparing for a final funding round.
