Hot Wheels Unleashed is a surprisingly good arcade racer, and its sequel is shaping up to be even better. Announced a little while ago, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged builds on the die-cast toy car racing game with some fundamental gameplay changes and more besides. You can see it in the above new trailer, which provides an overview of the biggest improvements to the game.
First, ATVs and motorbikes are now part of the selection of vehicles, which have now each been assigned a class. While some will be all-rounders, it looks like a lot of vehicles will specialise in straight-line speed, drifting prowess, off-road stability, and so on.
Speaking of off-road, the game will feature various new terrain types for when you're not on the orange strips. These will have different effects on your car's handling. It looks as though there should be a few terrains to get used to, as the range of locations appears to be much more imaginative this time around. We'll be racing around a back garden, a mini golf course, an arcade, and more.
Perhaps most interesting are the new moves at your disposal. Powered by your boost meter, you will be able to jump, double jump, and do a sideways dash. These will afford you a little more control, able to dodge out of the way of danger or adjust yourself in midair.
Finally, you'll be able to unlock and equip modifiers and perks to your vehicles, amping up their stats and changing how they play.
It all seems pretty promising from what we've seen thus far. If the game can stick the landing on 19th October, we could very well be onto a winner here. Are you excited for Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged? Race into the comments section below.
