Hi-Fi Rush PS5 and Nintendo Switch versions leaked

A Hi-Fi Rush launch on PS5 and Nintendo Switch could be imminent, following a recent leak. Currently an Xbox console exclusive, in-game files accessed by dataminers reveal new assets that seemingly confirm previous rumours of the game’s arrival on other platforms.

Specifically, the leak reveals a trio of unlockable in-game t-shirts, their veracity confirmed by The Verge’s Senior Editor, Tom Warren:

Developed by Tango Gameworks, the Bethesda (now, Microsoft) owned studio that brought us The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo, Hi-Fi Rush came out of nowhere, delighting critics with its old school, rhythm-infused style of action platformer. It shadow-dropped during an Xbox showcase last January, and was quickly locked in as one of 2023’s best debuts.

In our own Hi-Fi Rush review we scored the game a 9/10 calling it a “beguiling new take on rhythm-action, combining some of this generation’s most impressive visuals with music and mayhem.”

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has brought one of its games to platforms outside of its own Xbox and PC ecosphere. Both Ori and the Blind Forest, and Ori and the Will of the Wisps launched on Nintendo Switch. With Hi-Fi Rush now looking to make the same jump, could this be now be a recurring strategy for Microsoft? Could it one day extend to a new Halo or Gears of War appearing on PlayStation and Nintendo as well as Xbox?

The latter seems implausible for now, and while Nintendo has yet to entertain the notion of going multiplatform with its precious video game series, Sony has gradually warmed to the idea with various PS4 and PS5 hits having launched on PC.
