Summerhill is the next game from Land & Sea, the makers of Alto’s Adventure. It will be coming out in 2024 and is now live to wishlist on Steam.
Compared to the chill side-scrolling boarding of the two Alto games, Summerhill is a significantly more complex style of game. It’s a coming of age folktale that’s all about life, loss and livestock, inspired by the rich tradition of shepherding that is found in so many parts of the world.
It’s a rather gorgeous looking game with a full 3D world for the puzzle-like herding gameplay. You’ve got a dog by your side as you try to herd the sheep through the stage and get them back out through an archway. The puzzle in the demo was a straightforward one needing the player to push them round a post and then back through the stage, but there’s a lovely sweeping camera that lets you take in the achingly long vistas.
Todd Baker will be composing for this game again, so if you loved the audio delights of Alto’s Odyssey, Dreams or Monument Valley, you’ll want to keep an eye out for this one’s release onto music stores and streaming.
This is one that’s absolutely worth keeping an eye on!
