Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt has taken to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to announce that Helldivers 2 now has a higher server cap for concurrent players. While the studio still expects the game to hit that server cap, especially over the weekend, this hopefully means that more players will be able to play and wait times for logging into Helldivers 2 will be more bearable.
The new server cap for concurrent players in Helldivers 2 across PC and PS5 is 700,000—around 50 percent higher than its previous cap of 450,000 concurrent players. In a series of since-deleted tweets, Pilestedt also revealed that the studio is carefully increasing the cap as needed so as to not have another meltdown.
“I have one final update for tonight,” said Pilestedt. “We have updated the max CCU cap to 700,000. Unfortunately, we expect the CCU to reach that level. We believe that the wait times will be much more bearable.”
In the announcing tweet, Pilestedt has also stated that there will be some final improvements made to the server infrastructure for Helldivers 2, leading to some improvements for the rush of players expected to hit the game this weekend.
Helldivers 2 is available on PC and PS5. The game has been incredibly popular for the studio, and has even entered Steam’s all-time top 20 concurrent players list.
