Helldivers 2 players have been getting reinforcements in the fight against the Automatons and Terminids for quite a while now, but we've not really had anything of real substance since mechs dropped at the start of March, and they're pretty fragile at the best of time. Helldivers have been itching for firepower, and the recent leaks surrounding APCs are making fans antsy.
Well, I'm here with yet another leak to add to the problem, as it appears a new type of APC called a "Colony Rover" has been discovered in the game's files. This was first shared by Reddit user IronS1ghts, who shared two images of the Colony Rover on the Helldivers Leaks subreddit, one of them rendered and the other being the model's mesh.
Alongside the model of the Colony Rover, they also discovered that the vehicle has driving properties and placeholder animations attached to it, suggesting that this vehicle can either be driven around by an NPC or the player themselves. Unlike the previous APC leaks that have spread throughout social media, this one appears to be more transport focused, with no outward weapons of any kind and a beefy body to hold several people.
Now that we know that the Colony Rover is actually in the game, the question is now what it actually does and how we get it. Several players have already pointed out that a wrecked version of this vehicle can occasionally be found on certain planets, which leads them to believe this might be something that can simply be found once it's actually added to the game.
Another popular theory is that we won't actually be driving this vehicle ourselves and that it'll be used in a new mission. Given that it has no weapons attached, it does track, and some believe it could be used as a convoy vehicle during a new NPC escort mission. Either way, there's no way to tell for sure what Arrowhead's plans are for the vehicle actually are until it's added, so the long wait for an APC of some kind to drop in Helldivers 2 continues.
