Helldivers 2 has proven to become an unexpected smash hit for PlayStation, swiftly topping Steam's bestsellers chart and becoming the company's most played game on the platform by a clear margin, ahead of titles like Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and God of War. Over the weekend, Helldivers 2 managed to set a peak player count of 155,926, and while developer Arrowhead is probably delighted with those numbers, they're currently a bit too much to handle.

Given that Helldivers 2 has a peak player count of 155,926, we can surmise from this info that the player count on PlayStation is even higher, which makes server issues such as these understandable.
In a later update, Arrowhead claimed that it has made logging into the game much easier with another recent patch, and that work is still ongoing regarding the progression errors players have been experiencing. Daily and difficulty progression errors appear to have been fixed completely, but Arrowhead has made it clear that future mission rewards may still have a few kinks that need ironing out.
