Helldivers 2 players are running into a wide variety of cheats while playing the popular co-op shooter, including one that automatically gifts non-cheating squadmates massive amounts of Samples. This is an important form of in-game currency withinHelldivers 2 that dictates certain kinds of progression.
Helldivers 2's Samples are supposed to be relatively hard to come by, with Rare and Super Samples being locked behind certain difficulty levels. The three types of Samples can be found throughout Helldivers 2's missions, which can then be used to purchase Ship Modules. Normally, the possibility of finding Samples helps motivate users to play the game and earn these powerful upgrades; however, some fans are having this aspect of the game ruined for them.
Reddit user diceNslice posted a screenshot to the Helldivers 2 subreddit, which showed their payout screen after completing a mission with a cheater they had been matched with. The user's rewards were massive, earning 608 Common Samples, 644 Rare Samples, and 160 Super Samples. And this is pretty tame compared to the spoils of other cheaters, as some have reported earning upwards of 15,000 total Samples after being matched with one. For now, Arrowhead recommends affected users to contact customer support, which can help revert a user's Samples to the correct amount.
This is understandably frustrating to fans of the wildly popularHelldivers 2, which features unlocks and progression as some of its main rewards for playing. It's safe to assume that Arrowhead Game Studios is working on or planning to implement a solution to this problem, although it could be a while until cheating issues like this one are truly solved. Since Helldivers 2's February 8 release, Arrowhead has been swamped by the game's massive player numbers, which created issues that are only beginning to be solved.
