Cities: Skylines 2 Reviews Fall To Mostly Negative Over "Low Quality" DLC

Cities: Skylines 2's Steam reviews have fallen into the "mostly negative" category as players grow increasingly frustrated with the state of the game. The issue has only been made worse with the release of a new DLC back, Beach Properties, which players say is not worth the money and doesn't contain much new content at all.

The base game's overall reviews are "mixed", but recent reviews are mostly negative. Even longtime fans of the series say that the current state of Cities: Skylines 2 is unacceptable, complaining that its city simulation features don't work as intended, making it a "mess" to play.

"I desperately wanted to love this game. loved the first and had a lot of hype for this one," reads a negative Steam review. "It just isn't a good game at the minute [...] do not buy, not even on sale. Just wait until they fix it."

Some are even harsher: "This game is complete trash. And now they are charging for paid DLC before fixing the fundamental problems of the game? Enough said."

This feeling that paid DLC is being used to fix the game is shared by other players. Unsurprisingly, this means that the latest DLC pack, Beach Properties, is already flooded with negative reviews, despite only launching yesterday. At the time of writing, it has 450 negative ratings and just 27 positive scores.

The original Cities: Skylines, which launched in 2015, still has very positive reviews on Steam.

Cities: Skylines 2 launched last October and was immediately criticised for lacking features from the first game.
