Remember that Wright Flyer Studios and Key were cooking up an English version of Heaven Burns Red? Well, their game Heaven Burns Red is now up for pre-registration. With deep, emotional storytelling and turn-based combat, it’s probably going to be right up your alley.
The game first dropped in Japan back in February 2022. It scooped up many awards, including Best Game at the Google Play Best of 2022 awards. Behind the game’s story is Jun Maeda, who’s already well-known for crafting heart-tugging tales in games like Clannad and Little Busters!.
It’s going to launch with version 4.0, the same one that Japan got around their 2nd anniversary. That means when you jump in, you’ll be able to play through the first three chapters of the main story. The main story is called ‘Fabricated Fingers and a Sea of Rice.’
You’ll get to dive into ten different event stories right from the start. They are Kindness, Sorrow, and Strength of Heart, Requiem for the Blue, The Move That Spins This Planet, Behavioral Observation Report No. 1186, You’re Up, Shorties! Big Operation U140, Tiny Teardrops, Forgotten Memories, Summer, Swimsuits, and Tropical Festivals!, My Dear Little Hero, The Oracle and the White Lily and The Friend From That Day.
Before I give you some more details of the localisation adjustments, check out the official Heaven Burns Red pre-registration trailer below!
For the English version, you’ll get access to all the Memorias the Japanese server had up until November 29th, 2022. Memorias are sort of like collectible memories or scenes in the game. They’ve also optimized a lot of early events, so you’ll get better rewards in the Token Exchange.
Gameplay-wise, it has a visual novel vibe with 2D graphics that is gorgeous. It’s an all-female cast, so if you’re into the yuri aesthetic, it checks that box. The lead character, Ruka Kayamori, used to be a vocalist and guitarist of a disbanded band called ‘She Is Legend,’ so there’s a ton of awesome music to enjoy.
