Heartstopper star Kit Connor has shared his ideal storyline for season 2, stating that he hopes to see Nick and Charlie's relationship grow. Connor plays the Truman Grammar School star rugby player Nick Nelson in the Netflix coming-of-age romantic drama series. The series is based on Alice Oseman's webcomic and graphic novel series first published in 2016.
Heartstopper follows Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson, who develop feelings for one another after Nick is sat next to Charlie in class. Charlie, who was outed a year prior and subsequently bullied, soon develops a crush on Nick despite his friend's doubts about the rugby player's sexuality. However, after spending time together, the pair share a kiss at a party, leading to them becoming a couple as Nick discovers that he is bisexual. The series was renewed for a second and third season after being met with critical praise and high viewership upon its debut on April 22, 2022, and Connor has revealed what he hopes is in store for Nick and Charlie.
