Cat and platforming game fans have been eager to learn more about Stray ever since its reveal in 2020. Since then, the game has seen some delays, but now that it's on the verge of release, the developer is sharing some new images.
Stray is a futuristic adventure game that sees a small cat get lost in a world populated by robots. Players are given control of the cat directly and have to find a way to get the cat home through exploring the world and solving platforming puzzles.

Stray is now set to release in July, and alongside a new teaser trailer came the new images. A few of the images focus solely on the robots, with one lounging on a roof and another pair at what appears to be a food stand. However, the cat also makes several appearances, including a charming one of the cat sitting in a bucket, likely using it to traverse a cable it's attached to like a human would with a zip-line.
In the blog post the images originate from, the Stray team also discusses the development process of the game. Bringing a cat to life in a realistic and believable way was one of the developers' key intentions. The vast majority of the development team has cats of their own, and the studio has two cats, as well, that keep the devs company while they work. Additionally, the cat animation was handled by a team member named Miko, who performed careful study of cat video clips and images. The end result looks promising, as the cat moves with a lightness on its feet and demonstrates the flexibility it's capable of when stretching and jumping, looking very much like a real cat.
