Netflix's Heartstopper season 1 ended with a hectic Truham-Higgs Sports Day that left quite a few questions left unanswered. Based on the webcomic by Alice Boseman who also serves as the writer for the breakout series, Heartstopper focuses on Truham Grammar School students Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson as the pair navigate their feelings, friendship, and sexuality. The show has been a boon for LGBTQ+ youth and received much praise for its representation. The coming-of-age drama has been exceptionally popular and has already been renewed by Netflix for another two seasons.
Heartstopper chronicles Charlie and Nick's relationship as the friends begin developing feelings for each other. As Charlie spends more and more time with Nick, he begins sidelining his friend Tao Xu (William Gao). Charlie struggles to confide in the overprotective Tao who thinks Nick is taking advantage of Charlie when Nick is actually figuring out his sexuality. Charlie also has more and more trouble with his feelings about keeping his relationship with Nick a secret and decides to break it all off as Charlie believes their situation is the as that of his unhealthy, secret relationship with Ben Hope even though it is not.

Meanwhile, Tao keeps accidentally buying an apple juice for Elle and it is clear they both miss each other at school. The pair struggle to define their friendship and come to terms with staying friends while at different schools.
