In Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons, players visit a continent that has been isolated from the rest of the world until now: Cantha! It's a diverse region that's got plenty of problems of its own without you dragging your war into the area — but you're going to anyway.

There are two major criminal gangs that plague Cantha: the Jade Brotherhood and the Speakers. In this article, we'll cover what the Jade Brotherhood's motives are, who they're led by, and why they're such of a pain in the ass in the Echovald Wilds.
Keep in mind that, for human Canthan names, the first name is the family name and the second name is the individual's name.
Beware minor spoilers for the End of Dragons story.
Even before Cantha split off from the rest of the world, the Jade Brotherhood was alive and well. It was always a criminal organization, and it was one which players encountered if they played Guild Wars Factions. At the time, though, their rivals were a group known as the Am Fah that no longer exists. In fact, the Jade Brotherhood also petered out over the years.
It was revived by a man named Park Chul-Moo. Chul-Moo co-founded Xunlai Jade, Yu Joon's dragonjade company that powers Cantha. However, Chul-Moo and Joon began to butt heads when Chul-Moo began suggesting unethical experiments and business practices. Chul-Moo eventually left Xunlai Jade and founded the Jade Brotherhood, borrowing the name from the old gang (despite Chul-Moo having little to no affiliation with it).
