Penn of Penn and Teller, contestants on The Masked Singer season 7, revealed that using different voices for Hydra was Teller's idea. The duo was the second unmasking of Round 2, and the first unmasking of Round 2 was supermodel Christie Brinkley as Lemur. This season's theme is The Good, The Bad, and The Cuddly, with each contestant belonging to either Team Good, Team Bad, or Team Cuddly. The show format splits the season 7 celebrities into three groups of five, with three rounds for each group. Each group will crown a winner in their final round, with the winner from each group competing in the season finale. The Round 1 finals saw Firefly advance to the season finale.
Hydra was a part of Team Bad, alongside Jack in the Box, Queen Cobra, Cyclops, and Ram. However, on the latest episode of The Masked Singer, Hydra was up against Ringmaster and Armadillo of Team Good, and Miss Teddy of Team Cuddly. This season, rather than contestants being immediately eliminated, there is a bottom two. The two masked singers with the lowest number of votes go head-to-head in a singing duel, with the winner advancing to the next round and the loser being forced to unmask. Hydra dueled with Armadillo, with a performance of «Two Princes» by Spin Doctors. For their initial performance, they sang «Sharp Dressed Man» by ZZ Top.
