After The Masked Singer revealed former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani as the Jack in the Box, fans are praising panelist Ken Jeong for walking off stage after his elimination. While viewers are typically surprised by which star is hiding behind the show's elaborate costumes, fans have been anticipating and dreading the politician's reveal for months. Back in February, news broke that Donald Trump's attorney had been unmasked during filming, causing Ken to storm off the stage, followed by fellow panelist Robin Thicke. It was later explained that Robin was not upset and only followed to see if his friend was okay. Ken reportedly felt extremely disrespected by the showrunners and producers.
Last week, panelists were excited to see reality star Dog the Bounty Hunter unmasked after performing in the Armadillo costume for just three episodes. However, their reactions differed greatly when Rudy popped out of the Jack in the Box costume. The politician received some praise during his time as mayor for reducing crime in New York City and for his leadership skills during the events on September 11, 2001. However, he became widely controversial in November 2020 as one of the main Donald Trump aides who made unfounded claims about voter fraud after President Joe Biden's presidential victory. Ken's fellow panelists were equally as shocked to see Rudy on stage but remained cordial while Ken stood silently with his arms crossed before exiting the stage.
