Rebellion has shown off Sniper Elite 5’s new enhanced Kill Cam in a recently-released trailer for the upcoming shooter. Sniper Elite 5 was announced last year, and promises to bring the franchise to France for the first time. Rebellion hopes to improve the series’ most defining feature with enhanced visuals and more in-depth player control of the Kill Cam.
Debuting in 2005 and developed by Rebellion Developments, Sniper Elite is a third-person tactical shooter stealth series most famous for its series-defining mechanic, the Kill Cam. When a player takes an exceptional shot with their rifle, the Kill Cam will track the bullet’s passage to, and sometimes into, the enemy while in slow motion. With each entry of the series, the Kill Cam has managed to portray more gruesome details of each kill, showing anatomically accurate x-ray images depicting where the bullet penetrates targets while still in motion. The Kill Cam has become more advanced with each new Sniper Elite game, with new ways to execute the Kill Cam via melee attacks, showing the ricochet of bullets even into other multiple enemies, and even portraying environmental destruction.

In a new YouTube trailer from Rebellion, fans were given a fresh look at the newest incarnation of Sniper Elite 5’s Kill Cam. The graphically enhanced Sniper Elite 5 displays new levels of gruesome accuracy as the Kill Cam now resembles a visceral amalgamation of Fallout’s V.A.T.S. system, which also allowed a player to witness their kills in slow motion, and Mortal Kombat’s X-Ray system, which displayed certain fighting moves in macabre detail.
