The release date for non-Batman game Gotham Knights may be sooner than expected, with rumours of a launch next month.
Despite its 2022 release window, there has been little news lately on Gotham Knights, with only a cinematic story trailer during 2021’s DC Fandome event. If a recent leak is to be believed though, the game may be out in little more than a month.
Spotted by Hogwarts Legacy News, which primarily focuses on updates for the other big, upcoming Warner Bros. release Hogwarts Legacy, a local game store in Ireland, apparently a GameStop, has put up displays for Gotham Knights.
These displays have a ‘coming soon’ label but, rather than just a general 2022, they read April 24. If you’re finding it hard to believe that Gotham Knights will release so soon, you might not be wrong.
In response to this discovery, another Twitter user, who says they’ve worked in an Irish GameStop before, says this is simply a placeholder. They add that the date is simply guesswork since retailers like GameStop don’t receive information on upcoming releases until after they’ve been announced.
The Hogwarts Legacy News account points out that these Gotham Knights placeholders are being displayed very prominently in the coming soon section. If it is guesswork, the store is essentially providing false information.
Furthermore, April 24 is a Sunday, which is an unusual day for a major game release like a new Batman game. For the time being, it’s best to wait until Warner Bros. itself makes a formal announcement.
Over the weekend, a beta playtest for Gotham Knights was also spotted on Steam. It has since been removed and, from the sound of it, no one was able to access it, but its presence remains on SteamDB.
