Monster Hunter Rise's Sunbreak Expansion officially has a release date of June 30, 2022, on Switch and PC via Steam.
Series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto announced a slew of new details about the expansion during today's Monster Hunter digital event. A new trailer showed off the new story, the new outpost hub, new monsters to hunt, and new abilities to gain after completing the base game. Check out the trailer above.
The digital-only version of Sunbreak will cost you $39.99, while a Deluxe Edition will cost $49.99, but comes with layered armor sets, hairstyles, and gestures. Those who want a physical copy can spring for a limited Collector's Edition for $99.99, which comes with a digital voucher for the Deluxe Edition, a steelbook case, an amiibo of the new flagship monster Malzeno, stickers, and pins.
Players who pre-order any version of Sunbreak will receive the "Loyal Dog" and "Striped Cat" layered armor sets for Palico and Palamute companions. Once the game launches, players will be able to purchase three new amiibo of Malzeno that unlock more armor for Palico and Palamute companions.
Sunbreak has been compared to Monster Hunter World's Iceborne expansion in terms of scale and scope and includes the new Elder Dragon Malzeno, a Master Rank for quests, and more.
IGN awarded Monster Hunter Rise an 8 out of 10 in our review, calling it a "thrilling step forward in the series’ evolution toward the new normal World so boldly introduced."
