The new trailer for Swimming with Sharks offers an exciting look at the genderswapped remake. Swimming with Sharks is based on a 1994 dark comedy film of the same name starring Frank Whaley and Kevin Spacey. However, the new Swimming with Sharks series, created by Kathleen Robertson, looks to redefine itself with more than genderswapped characters. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka leads the cast, which includes Diane Kruger, Donald Sutherland, Thomas Dekker, Finn Jones, and Robertson.
The Swimming with Sharks trailer, shared to YouTube by The Roku Channel, sees Shipka's Lou becoming an intern for Kruger's volatile Joyce Holt, the CEO of Fountain Pictures. The trailer quickly warns that «proximity to greatness is intoxicating» before the death of a coworker spurs things in a grim direction that sees Lou warning this is not a story that ends happily ever after. As tensions rise, Lou sheds her innocence and begins to embrace the darkness surrounding her in what looks to be a Hollywood cautionary tale. Check out the trailer for Swimming with Sharks below:

The genderswapped remake of Swimming with Sharks puts Shipka in the same position as Whaley's character from the 1994 film, with Kruger stepping into Spacey's role as the toxic executive. The remake also seems to have removed the dark humor, focusing instead on the seedy motivations of each character for a decidedly dramatic thriller. For those eager to see Swimming with Sharks, the series is currently set for six half-hour episodes which will debut exclusively on The Roku Channel on April 15th.
