Diane Kruger reveals that she felt like meat during a screen test for the Iliad-inspired film Troy. The model-turned-actor has had a long career in Hollywood, with notable roles in the Nicolas Cage-led National Treasure, Quentin Tarantino's alternate-history war film Inglourious Basterds, and most recently the 2022 action film The 355 as a German secret agent. Kruger is set to star in the upcoming Roku channel limited drama series Swimming with Sharks, a remake of the 1994 comedy of the same name.
Kruger starred in the sword-and-sandal epic Troy as the famed ancient Greek mythological character Helen of Troy, a woman renowned for her beauty whose kidnapping led to the Trojan War, as depicted in Homer's story. She was joined by Ocean's 11 star Brad Pitt as the famed hero Achilles, The Lord of the Rings' Orlando Bloom as Helen's secret lover Paris, and X-Men 2's Brian Cox as King Agamemnon. The film was one of the highest-grossing movies of 2004, making nearly $500 million at the box office.

In a recent interview with Variety, the German actor says that she felt like a piece of meat during her audition for the 2004 Wolfgang Peterson film Troy. During an initial screening for her part, Kruger was asked to test for an executive in full historically-inspired wardrobe. Read what she had to say below:
«I remember testing for Helen of Troy and having to go to the studio head in costume. And I felt like meat, being looked up and down and was asked questions like, 'Why do you think you should be playing this?»
