The Batman villain known as Ra’s al Ghul is well-known as a ruthlessly efficient mastermind of untold evil, but now he’s just shown he’s far more heroic than Marvel’s X-Men! Fans might not believe it, but with both Ra’s and the X-Men offering humanity ways to cure all forms of sickness, pain, and even death, “The Demon’s Head” makes the X-Men look bad.
As seen in the first part of the Batman/Robin/Deathstroke crossover event, Shadow War: Alpha #1, by Joshua Williamson and Viktor Bogdanovic, shows fans the unexpected when Ra’s al Ghul turns himself into the authorities. After finding out that he is slowly dying, Ra’s decides that instead of culling humanity to save them from themselves (as he is usually wont to do), he wants to now save them with a secret he has been utilizing for years: the Lazarus Pits.

A piece of Batman lore that allows users that either ingest the miracle concoction or are submerged in it after grievous injury, terminal illness, death, or old age debilitate them to the point of no return, the Lazarus Pits are most often used by Ra’s to extend his thousands year-long life or bring back from the dead people that he (or others) hold most dear. And now with Ra’s wanting to freely give the secrets of the Lazarus Pits out to the world, he draws attention to the way the X-Men have been handling their own Krakoan medicinal miracles as well as their new ability to bring their citizens back from the dead.
