Ambulance star Jake Gyllenhaal recently discussed his experience shooting the new Michael Bay film and says the shoot may have set the world record for most vehicles destroyed while making a movie. Bay is known for his high-concept action movies and aggressive filming style, but his higher-budget films like Transformers and Armageddon are defined by their large amount of CGI, whereas Ambulance's lower budget made Bay rely more on practical effects. Ambulance stars Gyllenhaal as a war veteran who turns to bank robbery with his adopted brother (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) as they hijack an ambulance and take two EMTs hostage. According to Gyllenhaal, a lot of the dialogue in the movie was improvised by the actors and Bay as well.

Bay has already said he's destroyed more vehicles than any other director in film history, and Ambulanceadds to that legacy. Bay has also mentioned that the CGI effects in the movie are less-than-stellar, and that's why he used real
