Reviews for Michael Bay's newest movie, Ambulance are in, and as can be expected from the bombastic filmmaker, the reception is somewhat polarized. While most reviews are positive, a number of reviews criticize the movie for the same list of complaints you'll find lodged against most Michael Bay films.
Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Eiza González, Ambulance is Bay's first return to the big screen as a director since Transformers: The Last Knight, with his last explosion-filled spectacle, 6 Underground, releasing on Netflix. Ambulance's synopsis bills it simply as «Two robbers steal an ambulance after their heist goes awry,» but as with any Michael Bay movie, the trailers have promised far more explosions and over-the-top action scenes than the brief description would imply.

Ambulance currently has a 68 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, making it Bay's first movie with a Fresh score since The Rock in 1996. Interestingly, the movie has a slightly higher 70 percent score from Rotten Tomatoes' «Top Critics,» which is rare for a blockbuster, particularly one from Michael Bay. Of course, the 80 percent audience score shows more casual viewers are really enjoying the movie, likely due to its signature «Bayhem,» but here's what critics are saying.
