Star Wars is a longstanding and popular franchise, one that has a long history with LEGO games too. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga set out to be a culmination of all 9 films in one LEGO game, and the initial reception of the game has been incredibly positive. No game is perfect, but it seems that LEGO and Star Wars fans alike are happy with the latest entry.
Even with full-blown voice acting, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga retains developer TT Games’ particular brand of humor. There are plenty of jokes and running gags to be had, like Luke Skywalker’s apparent obsession with blue milk. Still, each scene is made pretty faithfully aside from these tied-in jokes, but one YouTuber really shows how well done the cutscenes of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga are.

YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits recently made a video, putting the game scenes alongside the actual movie scenes. This video only uses the original trilogy—A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi—but it’s enough to really understand the game’s approach here too, as ElAnalistaDeBits describes the game as a “love letter to Star Wars fans.” Even accounting for the jokes and various changes, the game’s cutscenes pair well with the movies.
Oftentimes, the game retains the spirit of the movies as well even when it’s not exact.
