As if we needed more reminders of how popular Elden Ring is, Bandai Namco has revealed that it’s sold 12 million copies worldwide.
Between the universal praise from critics and fans, and its continued domination of the sales charts, to call Elden Ring a success would be an understatement.
It’s already the best-selling game of 2022 in the US, and the biggest new IP launch in Europe since 2016, and now it’s hit another major milestone. According to publisher Bandai Namco Elden Ring has sold a staggering 12 million copies worldwide after just three weeks.
None of FromSoftware’s other Souls games have come even close to managing that. It took Dark Souls 3 four years to sell 10 million copies, and Elden Ring, despite being a brand new property, has managed to outperform it in less than three weeks.
By comparison, fellow multiformat game Resident Evil 7 was considered a major success and sold 10 million copies worldwide by the end of its run, while it took several years for Final Fantasy 15 to reach a total of 9.8 million copies.
