Gintama Light Novel Series Gets An Anime Adaptation
During the Gintama Ato no Matsuri event, it was announced that the 3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-Sensei novel is slated to get an anime adaptation of its own. The project is based on Tomohito Ōsaki's novel. The novel takes place at Gintama High School, and it follows Ginpachi Sakata, who is the teacher despite not having the right qualifications.
The first novel was released in 2006, and the latest edition was released by Shueisha in 2018. There are more than five novels, and almost all of them will be used in the anime adaptation. The content from the novel was used by the original anime at the end of its episodes.
Hideaki Sorachi began writing Gintama in December 2003. The manga continued to be serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump until June 2019. During its run, Gintama managed to amass a lot of popularity. Currently, the series has over 55 million copies in circulation, making it one of the most popular manga series of all time. Viz Media published Gintama in English, and it continued to do so until the twenty-third volume, after which the company stopped its publication of the manga.
