Merchandise based on the 2020 hit Ghost of Tsushima will be made available to purchase at gift shops on the actual island where the game takes place later this month. Developed by Sucker Punch of Sly Cooper and Infamous fame, Ghost of Tsushima earned high praise from PS4 owners for its impressive visuals, rewarding combat, and emotional themes of family, revenge, and honor. A live-action Ghost of Tsushima movie is currently in the works by John Wick director Chad Stahelski, and rumors suggest that a Ghost of Tsushima sequel might already be in development at Sucker Punch.
Ghost of Tsushima’s story is loosely based on the real-life history of Japan’s Tsushima island, with fallen samurai warrior Jin Sakai battling to free his homeland during the first Mongolian invasion of the island in 1274. As such, several physical and cultural landmarks of the real Tsushima are displayed in beautiful detail within Ghost Of Tsushima’s rich open world, such as the ancient Inari Fox Shrines that grant Jin Charms to give him an advantage in battle. Last year's Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut added Japan’s southeastern Iki Islands to this backdrop, no doubt leading many players to want to visit the real-world locations depicted in the blockbuster game.
