Today's Patch 10.1 PTR build includes a change to Gear Trading, increasing the time limit to 4 hours but making the timer count down while offline.

Gear Trading:Trading window increased to 4 hours (was 2 hours) Timer now ticks while offline (was only while online) Impact of the Change Quality of LifeThis is a great quality of life change for a lot of players who have a raid night that is longer than 2 hours. If you kill the first boss (say Eranog) at the beginning of your raid night, the timer would run out by the end of the night (if you were progressing on Raszageth) making it untradeable. This 4 hour timer should cover the majority of raid night by default, allowing you to trade gear amongst your players at the end of your raid. In order to accomplish this previously, you would need to store this gear on a character that logs out, which was a hassle and now players don't have to do any extra work to be able to trade gear during a raid night. This unfortunately means that you can't hold loot on characters until the Weekly Reset to see your Great Vault, or overnight, but overall this is likely a good chance for the majority of situations.
Top End GuildsFor top end guilds who want to optimize every single piece of loot and Tier pieces, this will probably impact them significantly. Many top guilds would previously save loot on characters that don't log on until after the majority of their splits are done which could take days. Then, they can figure out how to best optimize all the loot that will drop. This is especially impactful when trying to figure out how to craft
