One gamer has made a nostalgic discovery while shopping at a drugstore in Alabama. The gaming industry is currently in its ninth generation of hardware, with Sony promoting its PlayStation 5 console and Xbox selling both the Xbox Series X and the weaker Xbox Series S. Nintendo has found itself somewhat between the eighth and ninth generation consoles with its home console/handheld hybrid the Nintendo Switch. Regardless, it's safe to say the vast majority of gaming hardware on retail shelves these days are for the newest consoles.
While there's still product available for older PlayStation and Xbox consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One, it's a rare thing to see accessories for anything older on store shelves outside of retro gaming shops. In most cases, many gamers may need to shop online if they hope to find accessories for their legacy platforms.

That's why it was such a rare find for Reddit user EvilCharizard to walk into a drugstore in Alabama and find some retro gaming accessories readily available for purchase. The shelf included MadCatz brand memory cards for both the original Xbox and original PlayStation consoles, plus a third-party «Trick» Xbox controller that touts itself as the «World's 1st Combo Cheat Controller.» The packaging appears to be somewhat sun damaged, underscoring the products' age.
There are some new versions of accessories like memory cards and controllers made for old-school consoles that one can purchase today, but that doesn't apply here. The original MadCatz filed for bankruptcy years ago, and the logo seen on these boxes are from the company's 2000s-era operations.
