One tipster states that the new technology is called ‘stackable’ and highlights several benefits of using it in next year’s flagships.
The word ‘stackable’ means that layers of cathode and anode will be placed on top of one another, as opposed to being wrapped around, according to the illustration shared by Revegnus on Twitter. The image shows that over time, the existing battery manufacturing method known as ‘winding’ endures a lot of stress, which can lead to battery swelling and the cell is also vulnerable to shocks if it is charged and discharged for a long time.
The tweet might explain why Samsung’s older smartphone batteries are swelling only after a few years of use, with the winding method also resulting in shortened runtime and the risk of a battery explosion. With the Galaxy S24 adopting the ‘stackable’ technology, the upcoming flagship series is not expected to go through such problems, instead being more reliable and safe for users.
