The Devourer of Worlds, Galactus, was recently reborn into a new form called the Destruction that, while impressive, ignores everything that made him one of the most iconic Marvel characters. While the original Galactus is an inscrutable space god with an overwhelming aura of mystery and power, the Destruction is a mindless brute with unclear motivations and a declared purpose that turns out to be pointless at the end of the story.
Marvel Comics has an unexplainable tendency to «reboot» Galactus into new forms. This makes little sense, as Galactus is one of the fundamental forces of the cosmos, and as such he should be immutable, but that didn't stop Marvel from showing a «Lifebringer» that gives life to planets rather than destroying them, a «Galactus Engine» created by the evil gods of the Cancerverse, and even a Hulk Galactus that will end up destroying the universe. These versions had their own merits, as unique takes on the character that still preserved its core aspects and functions. The Destruction, however, who appeared in Fantastic Four, while billed as Galactus' ultimate form, is the most disappointing version of the Devourer to ever appear.

Galactus was actually killed not too long ago by Thor during the battle between the God of Thunder and the Black Winter. During the Reckoning War event, all the former Heralds of Galactus gathered on Asgard, compelled by the call of the Power Cosmic, and unearthed the corpse of their master, which then fused with the armor of the Destroyer (an Asgardian weapon of war that was also a Herald for a while) to create the Destruction.
