Fortnite goes big when it's time to kick off a new season. It goes even bigger when launching a new chapter, something that has only happened twice in the game's almost-five-year history. Chapter 3 got underway at the tail end of 2021 in a very big way. The island flipped upside down, The Foundation removed his helmet and confirmed he was The Rock, and Epic finally managed to add Spider-Man to its Marvel roster.
Spidey has brought different looks to Fortnite with him, and even the MCU's MJ. Plus, an item that allows you to swing around the island, arguably more smoothly than you can swing with Marvel's Avengers web-slinger. Fortnite's web-shooters are loaded with 80 charges, allowing you to traverse the map with ease and drop in unexpectedly on your opponents.

Turns out Epic thinks the web-shooters might be a little too useful. Tucked away at the bottom of an announcement that Fortnite is getting its very own Pizza Party is the reveal that Spidey fans won't be able to swing around as freely as they have been up until now, at least not when playing in competitive playlists. The item's capacity will be reduced from 80 charges all the way down to 20 in an attempt to force players to be more strategic.
“This lower count encourages players to make more strategic decisions about when to use the item,” the patch notes read. There is some good news to go with this bad news. The web-shooters will remain unchanged for casual players. Only those playing Fortnite for sport will have to nurse those web charges. The change also won't be applied until next week when the v19.20 update goes live on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.
