With one comment, Marvel Comics' once popular and yet infamously scrutinized Swimwear Special is now officially canon. Investigating a section of London suddenly engulfed in ominous magical energy, the current Black Knight also seeks the status of the X-Men who were wrapping up a battle before the storm. A consequence caused by the death of Doctor Strange, Jackie Chopra witnesses a demonically transformed London complete with corrupted X-Men with vastly different appearances. In Death of Doctor Strange: X-Men/Black Knight #1, Dane Whitman witnesses the murder of Doctor Strange and how a mysterious storm appeared in London shortly after the X-Men finished their latest skirmish. Still getting used to sharing the title and powers of the Black Knight, he informs his daughter Jackie about details regarding her first mission. Thanks to Arthurian visions Dane receives through his connection to the Ebony Siege, he learns the storm is actually a malevolent realm called the Hungry Lands, free to crossover into this dimension once Doctor Strange’s death removed the magical safeguards he maintained. Jackie chooses to enter the Hungry Lands in hopes of verifying the X-Men’s status and hopefully ending its threat to not only the country but also the world.
