Fans of the classic Spider-Man 2099 will be thrilled to see how he appears in two new stylized pieces of fan art. The art was posted on Twitter by Colin Craker. It features the dystopian wall crawler in one of his darker version of the future.
Created by Peter David and Rick Leonardi in 1992, the character first appeared in Spider-Man 2099 #1, which also kickstarted the larger 2099 universe. Rather than Peter Parker, Spider-Man 2099 is a completely original character named Miguel O'Hara. In this cyberpunk dystopian future, corporations control all. Miguel is a scientist working for the corporation Alchemax. After being disillusioned with their genetic experiments, Miguel attempts to quit. Unfortunately, he is duped by his corrupt boss Tyler Stone and forced to undergo an experiment on himself. This gives him his spider-like abilities and talons on his forearms. Although he has Spider-Man's namesake, Miguel is completely different from Peter Parker, more brutal and unafraid to kill.

In two separate pieces of art, Colin Craker does a great job reimagining the character in a sleeker suit reminiscent of Batman Beyond. Spider-Man 2099's talons are also more exaggerated, and he even looks to be sporting some sort of propellant pack on his back. Both images have Spider-Man 2099 in the rain. In one image he is squatting in a typical Spidey pose with the Nueva York skyline in the background. The names of two corporations, Alchemax and Oscorp, appear on the skyscrapers. In the other piece, Spider-Man 2099 stands in a broken window as troops aim their guns at him.
