Fortnite Festival should feel even more like Rock Band today, as guitar controller support is finally added to the game mode. Only certain controllers are compatible, but it at least makes it possible for some of us to recreate the good ol' days of rhythm games being playable with big plastic controllers, even if not all the instruments are available right now.
This comes as part of today's update, which also adds Billie Eilish to the Fortnite Festival Main Stage. It kicks off Season 3 of Fortnite Festival, which will run all the way until June 13.
Right now, guitars are the only instrument controllers that will work on Fortnite Festival, so there's no need to dust off your drumsets and microphones just yet. However, the announcement adds that further compatibility will be rolled out "in the future", so we should hopefully be able to put a whole band together sooner rather than later.
As per the Fortnite website, here's the breakdown on which controllers will be compatible:
Riffmaster controllers aren't cheap and will set you back $129.99 regardless of the platform you're playing on. If you're lucky enough to have a Rock Band 4 controller lying around, that's your best bet. Otherwise, you can try to hunt one down online, it but looks like many stores are out of stock. Ebay prices are pretty steep too, and might get even worse if they're now widely sought after by Fortnite Festival fans.
At the very least, even if you don't have a controller handy, today's update means you can enjoy the Billie Eilish crossover. Her inclusion in the game also lends credibility to a huge roadmap leak, as this predicted her Fortnite Festival event days before it was announced. If this leak continues to be accurate, then Eilish will be joined by fellow artists Metallica, Karol G and Snoop Dogg later this year.
