Following the recent rollout of Fortnite's newest update, some players noticed a bug that's causing the trees to disappear from maps. Initial images of the seemingly barelandscape made the rounds on social media, and it caused quite a stir within the Fortnite community.
Since launching in 2017, Fortnite became popular for its unique take on battle royale gameplay, which includes building forts and crossovers with the likes of Resident Evil and Marvel Comics. Now in its fourth chapter, developer Epic Games started using Unreal Engine 5.1 to improve Fortnite's graphics and overall gaming experience, and to also make it compatible with current-gen consoles like the PlayStation 5.

Just like any game, Fortnite is not safe from the occasional bugs and glitches, and Twitter user ScyanYT shared one that affected the environment. In a tweet, they shared two photos comparing Fortnite's previous and current graphics, but many players noticed that the «now» photo looked more barren as it was missing the trees. Fortunately, Epic Games didn't remove the trees from maps as Fortnite Status replied to the tweet, saying that the team is already investigating an issue that's causing details to not render properly on the Island while players are on board the Battle Bus. They also mentioned that the bug only happened on the PS5 version of the game.
Many players were concerned about the drastic graphical change at first, but they later expressed their gratitude to Fortnite Status for keeping them updated about an ongoing fix to the issue. Meanwhile, some Xbox players pointed out that they might also be experiencing issues, with one noting that there seemed to be fewer clouds in Fortnite now
