Videos of a surprising number of Five Nights at Freddy's fans stealing posters, cutouts, and merchandise of the movie from cinemas have been shared online.
After years of being in development hell, the long-awaited Five Nights at Freddy's movie finally hit cinemas yesterday and, unsurprisingly, it's causing a lot of buzz online. While most fans are content with just reacting to the bevvy of easter eggs and references that can be found in the movie (such as the appearance of one YouTuber we all hoped would be in it), some have taken to committing crimes in the name of Freddy Fazbear merchandise.
Although the Five Nights at Freddy's movie has been poorly received by critics, it seems that it's a big hit with fans as it currently sits at 8.2 on Metacritic, indicating Universal Acclaim.
As shared by Twitter user solarkarii and originally posted on TikTok by clementineprice, it seems that some fans are so excited about the Five Nights at Freddy's movie finally coming out that they've taken to stealing posters and cutouts for the film from cinemas. The compilation shared by solarkarii shows several different fans running away from cinemas while carrying posters and cutouts used to advertise the film.
The first video shows someone sprinting down some escalators with the triangular cutout that's usually placed at the front of movie theatres, while the second shows a group of friends carrying an even bigger version of that cutout. Another video that is shown later in the compilation shows the cardboard cutout version of the poster being lugged around, while another shows someone with a more normal-sized poster in their arms as they sprint away.
