Five Nights At Freddy's Movie Passes $200 Million Worldwide, Despite Second-Weekend Dropoff
The movie had a $20 million budget, so things are looking good.

The Five Nights at Freddy's movie has now cleared more than $200 million at the box office against a reported budget of $20 million. According to the latest box office numbers from Variety, the FNAF film earned another $19.4 million in the US for its second weekend to help push global figures to more than $217 million.
Most movies experience double-digit percent declines in box office results after the first weekend, and the FNAF movie was no different. Its second-weekend domestic result of $19.4 million was down 76% from its record-breaking $80 million debut.
In any event, though, the FNAF movie has now eclipsed $113 million in the US alone. Also worth noting is that the FNAF movie debuted in theaters and on Peacock at the same time, which could have played a role in its total box office performance. In fact, Variety quoted box office analysts as saying that the in-theater and on-demand simultaneous rollout for the FNAF definitely softened box office numbers for the second weekend in particular.
That may be true, but the FNAF is a huge commercial hit in any event. It was Blumhouse's biggest opening weekend ever, and it is now the highest-grossing horror movie of 2023 after just 10 days in the US. It beats out Scream VI ($108 million), M3gan ($95 million), and The Nun II ($85 million).
The film was directed by Emma Tammi (Into the Dark, The Wind) based on a script by Cawthon, Tammi, Seth Cuddeback, Chris Lee Hill, and Tyler MacIntyre.
The FNAF movie stars Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) and Matthew Lillard (Scooby-Doo). Jim Henson's Creature Shop working on the spooky animatronics.
