One of the main features of The War Within is Delves, small scenarios that can be done with groups of 1 to 5 players. With the first build of The War Within alpha, we played through Delves to take a first look at what they have to offer!
To catch a few for Delves, we've recorded a solo run of Earthcrawl Mines, one of the delves available for testing on the first build of The War Within, Earthcrawl Mines!
Delves can be entered at anytime from the overworld. Just approach them and as you reach the entrance, there will be an option to enter the delve. Delves have no loading screen — Just accept the prompt and you'll be right in!
When inside of a Delve, you will have access to Brann Bronzebeard as a companion when not in a full group. You can interact with his supplies at the beginning to set things like what role you want him to be and equipment. Otherwise, all you need to do is check objectives to start the Delve.
Delves work similarily to scenarios from Mists of Pandaria, in which you will advance through a delve completing objectives.
As you advance through the delve, you might find side objectives, such as rare mobs and treasure chests that grant powers to help through the delve, and even herbs and mining nodes — That Brann will pick up for you if no one in your group can! You can also find summon stones through the Delve that will grant an extra checkpoint in the delve in case you wipe.
At the end of the Delve, you will face against a boss that at least on the run we did, kinda melted. After defeating the boss, you will gain access to a treasure vault with piles of gold and a chest! More chests will appear on higher level Delves that will require keys to unlock.
Delves as of this build drop gear and a new currency called Resonant Crystal, which is currently used to buy certain cosmetic items such as kobold candle helms! These can be purchased with Sir Finley Mrgglton in Dornogal.
