Reviews for the long-awaited second instalment in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, have just dropped before the game's launch next week and they're just as positive as you'd expect.
We're only two months into 2024, and it's already been a great year for video games thanks to releases like Helldivers 2, Persona 3 Reload, and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, just to name a few. As anticipated as those games were, though, there's one title that's stood above them as 2024's most-anticipated game - Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
With so much build-up, fans might be a little nervous about whether Rebirth is as good as we've all been hoping and whether it can reach the same heights that Final Fantasy 7 Remake did. It looks like you don't need to worry, though, as the reviews for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are looking incredibly positive, with the game currently sitting at a "Mighty" score of 92 on OpenCriticand 95 on Metacritic.
Let's start off with TheGamer's review first, which comes from Lead Features Editor Jade King. In her four-and-a-half star review, King praised the storytelling and how it subverts expectations while also being respectful towards the past and extended world of Final Fantasy 7. King also praised the character variety, and combat - the only thing that wasn't so positive was how many minigames there are.
GameRant's Dalton Cooper was just as positive about Rebirth, giving it four-and-a-half stars out of five and noting that its open-world sections, combat mechanics, characters are all great. Although Cooper enjoyed the variety of minigames, they did also point out that there are some pacing issues that slow things down a bit. DualShockers' Matthew O'Dwyer was also a big fan of Rebirth, saying that it was everything that he loved about Remake and then some.
