Graphics mode is designed to make the game and its world look its best, with the significant handicap of keeping the game capped at 30 FPS. Performance mode is entirely focused on providing players with the smoothest gameplay experience, running at 60 FPS, but the graphics take a significant hit in this mode. Many fans have voiced their displeasure with the performance mode, citing lower-quality textures, lighting, and resolution. Director Naoki Hamaguchi is aware of the issues fans have had with the graphics, claiming a patch will be coming to Rebirth soon.
In an interview with One More Game, the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director was asked if the developers were going to address the complaints that were leveled against its performance mode. While Hamaguchi mentioned that he couldn't reveal the full scope of what the next patch will contain, it will fix the visual quality in performance mode. «We’ve received a lot of feedback on whether the graphics in the performance mode will be improved or not,» said Hamaguchi. «We hear you, and we are currently working on an update patch to improve that aspect. I don’t think the release date would be far away from now.»
