The days of mainline Final Fantasy titles releasing exclusively for any single platform seem to be over. Final Fantasy 16, for instance, has made its way to PC by now, and Square Enix has suggested on multiple occasions that the action title will eventually release for Xbox Series X/S as well. In fact, that might even happen in the near future.
That’s per prominent leaker NateTheHate, who has claimed on ResetEra that Square Enix will soon be announcing Final Fantasy 16 for Xbox Series X/S, with a release scheduled for sometime “around Spring”, or the “mid-first half” of the year. The leaker says the port might be announced alongside the rumoured upcoming ports of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth.
The latter two are, of course, rumoured to be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 as well. According to NateTheHate, however, a Final Fantasy 16 release isn’t currently planned for the Switch 2, with Square Enix instead having decided to prioritize the Remake and Rebirth ports.
Final Fantasy 16 is currently available on PS5 and PC.
