While Arrowhead Studios has struggled to find the right mix between devasting firepower and balanced gunplay, the developer has settled into a comfortable position, allowing it to unload what may be one of the most exciting Stratagems players have ever seen.
Per a trailer from PlayStation, the Warbond, which releases on February 6, will introduce new armor, weapons, and Stratagems to, including the highly anticipated B-100 Portable Hellbomb. The Stratagem, which is dropped in the form of a pick-up that's strapped to a Helldiver's back, allows players to carry the massive explosive with them into battle. With the flip of a switch, the timer is triggered, granting players a mere 10 seconds to drop the payload and run for cover before it detonates.
Alongside the portable version of the Hellbomb, also features unlockable capes and armor sets that feature helmets fitted with face-like visors. The Warbond's new primary weapon is the LAS-17 Double-Edge Sickle, an energy-based rifle that outputs a steady stream of laser rounds before recharging. As a secondary, players will also be able to purchase the GP-31 Ultimatum, a grenade launcher that can take out small groups of enemies, although its single-shot nature may make it ineffective against tougher foes.
also introduces a new throwable: The G-50 Seeker. When tossed, the grenade deploys propellors and follows the user until it locks onto an enemy, prompting it to zip towards them and explode. While situational, it may prove to be an effective means of eliminating airborne enemies before they become unmanageable.
Helldivers 2's recent update has introduced The Illuminate, a third enemy faction whose defensive tactics make them difficult to defeat in missions.
