The official red band trailer for Alpake Entertainment’s upcoming horror comedy has been released, providing audiences with a closer look at the Killer Popeye. The film is currently expected to arrive in U.S. theaters in April 2025, after Gravitas Ventures acquired the rights to its North American distribution.

“In the film, Olive Oyl, her brother Castor and friends, go on a camping trip to see the meteor shower with Halley’s Comet. But the night turns into horror as a meteor transforms Popeye into an unstoppable killing machine,” reads the official synopsis. “In Northern California during the summer of 1986, Olive Oyl, along with her cinema-obsessed friends and brother Castor, embark on a once-in-a-lifetime camping trip to witness the dazzling meteor shower accompanying the arrival of Halley’s Comet. But what starts as a serene evening of stargazing quickly turns into a harrowing nightmare when a meteor from the comet transforms Popeye, into a terrifying and unstoppable killing machine.”
Shiver Me Timbers is written and directed by Paul Mann, based on the beloved animated series. It is set to feature “thrilling 80s slasher references and comedic twists,” while also paying tribute to the classic slasher films. The film stars Tony Greer and David Hallows as Popeye, Paul Dwedney as Homeless George, Amy Mackie as Olive, Leona Roberts as Lizzy, Paul Stephen Mann as Det. Zanaletto, and more. It is executive produced by Mann, Keith Montgomery, and Alastai Statha, with Eric Zapata serving as a producer.
