Back in September, Square Enix confirmed that two paid DLC expansions for Final Fantasy 16 were in development — but we're still waiting on any concrete details. However, producer Naoki Yoshida did state that more information would be heading our way before the end of the year — and we're obviously now in December.
So is a reveal imminent? That's what fans are wondering after adult Clive's Japanese voice actor, <a class=«external» href=«https://twitter.com/yuuya_uchida/status/1728602086831759552?ref_src=» https:>Yuya Uchida
, made an intriguing post on Twitter, only adding to the assumption that news is still incoming before 2023 is over.
Uchida is currently playing through the action RPG himself, and basically says that he needs to get on with it because he's heard rumours that there's some kind of announcement coming in December. Now, this wouldn't be the first time that a voice actor has hinted at an upcoming reveal — and it certainly won't be the last — but even written in Japanese, it seems like a pretty specific thing to post about.
Could the DLC show up at The Game Awards next week? Right now, it certainly seems probable, but again, only if Square Enix's plans are still on track. Fortunately, we won't have to wait too long to find out if there's any weight behind all this speculation.
As for the expansions themselves, director Hiroshi Takai has hinted at what's involved. When asked about the DLC at the recent PlayStation Partner Awards (via Game Watch), he said the expansions will «allow you to experience the 'darkness' and 'mystery' of Clive's story». He also confirms there'll be powerful enemies and new combat elements. That's all we're getting for now, though!
