To close off the month of January, Final Fantasy 14 will play host to another Moogle Treasure Trove event, but this one will be different from its predecessors. The updated Moogle Treasure Trove event for Final Fantasy 14 will give players more objectives to do, such as ocean fishing and Gold Saucer events, to earn the currency needed to claim some rewards.
The return of the Moogle Treasure Trove event arrived shortly after the release of Patch 6.55. The latest update for Final Fantasy 14 concluded the story of Endwalker and offered players a glimpse into what they can expect in the upcoming Dawntrail expansion. Players were also allowed to finish several side quest stories, including Tataru's Grand Endeavor, the Allied Tribe quests, and the latest chapter in the Hildibrand series. While Dawntrail has no release date at the time of writing, Final Fantasy 14 players will not be completely starved of content in the interim.
The new Moogle Treasure Trove event, titled The First Hunt for Genesis, starts on Tuesday, January 30, at 3:00 a.m. Eastern. The hunt will conclude no later than Monday, March 11, at 10:59 a.m. Eastern. According to Square Enix, The First Hunt for Genesis will be followed up with a second Moogle Treasure Trove event at a later date, though Square Enix has not stated when this will take place. Compared to past iterations of the Moogle Treasure Trove that saw players grind out dungeons and raids, this version gives players more options to earn a currency called «Irregular Tomestones of Genesis I» by doing more activities such as Gold Saucer GATEs and ocean fishing, all of which are ways Final Fantasy 14 players can earn gil at the same time.
Players can trade these tomestones by speaking to an Itinerant Moogle in either Ul'dah, Limsa Lominsa, or Gridania. Some rewards include the Mameshiba Necklace and the Modern Legend hairstyle, which players can use to further customize their character's appearance. A new «Mogpendium» will be added to Final Fantasy
