More people are flooding to the Fallout series than ever before, and if you don't want to wait in a queue or experience the lovable jank of the older Fallout games, then Fallout 4 or Fallout 76 is the first port of call. In fact, the latter is currently experiencing its highest ever player base since launch, meaning there are loads more people than usual heading to Appalachia to get their post-TV show Fallout fix.
However, Fallout 76 differs in that you'll be exploring the Wasteland with other people, and ever since the game's launch back in 2018, a social etiquette has been established that veterans of the title would like to remain intact. That's why they've laid out a list of "unwritten rules" of Fallout 76 that new players should take note of, as there are certain things that the game itself doesn't teach you.
For example, if you ever see a player running around naked and hanging out in places that see a lot of traffic, Reddit user Watch_Capt explains that they probably want you to kill them. This is due to the game's bounty system, which will make a player fair game for anyone if they kill another player or damage someone's property. Being killed by another player removes that bounty, so they'll run around naked and take a bullet, so they're not picked off full of gear and doing something important.
A couple more important rules that Fallout 76 vets put forward is how and where to lay out your Camp. A lot of the game's economy revolves around player trading, and placing your vendor in an awkward place can be very irritating for others that just want to nip in to see what you're selling. Similarly, Reddit user AlwaysBeenTim points out that while you might think forcing players to run through a decontamination shower to get to your vendor is helpful, high levels of radiation are actually key to some end-game builds, so don't do it.
